Bottisham House

Refurbishment of Grade II listed building in conservation area.

Description

Beacon were asked by the new owner to assist in developing a sensitive scheme for the refurbishment of this listed building and outbuildings.

Bottisham House is an early C19 Grade II listed property with remarkably well preserved late Georgian interiors. Situated on the High Street at the south-eastern end of the village, the house and gardens fall within the boundary of the Bottisham Conservation Area.

The house was in considerable need of modernisation and the new owners were keen to improve the energy efficiency of the building to make it more sustainable by installing solar thermal panels on the rear roof slope and a photovoltaic array within the garden.

We advised on the development of the proposals and liaised with the local authority regarding the proposed works. Once the scheme was finalised, we prepared the Design and Access and Heritage Statements and acted as agents for the planning and listed building consent applications.

Outcome

Planning and listed building consent was granted in December 2012.
