Beacon secured planning permission for the College to significantly improve and expand their facilities and residential accommodation at their main site.

The current College facilities were built to cater for significantly fewer students than today and fall well short of what is needed. Planning permission was secured for a four storey extension for additional dining hall and kitchens, multi-purpose hall, offices for College staff and research and student accommodation. The scheme was designed by Cambridge architects bb+c.

The College is one of the few to accommodate students with families. The project included new accommodation giving families more space and privacy whilst remining at the main college site.

Beacon handled the planning process from pre-application discussions to approval.
