Helping students relax!

Students at Girton College will soon have a new informal social space thanks to Beacon’s work with Allies and Morrison architects.

Historic Girton College, built in the C19 purely for female students, will soon have a modern new social space following approval of plans by South Cambridgeshire District Council in September 2017. The new space is at the heart of the College and will replace little-used rooms which once housed the kitchens. The new facility will have a coffee-bar style servery and enable students to work and meet in an open and informal environment. The works also include a new external space and lift to the basement bar area.

A second part of the approved scheme will see the refurbishment of the Porters’ Lodge area making it more convenient for students and visitors and improving security.
