Beacon Planning has secured planning permission on
behalf of Churchill College for the development of three
blocks of student accommodation just off Storey's Way,
Cambridge
The proposal constitutes the demolition of an existing
office building and the development of postgraduate
student accommodation through the provision of 35 new
student rooms on the College campus site.
Beacon Planning was appointed by the College to cover
both the planning and heritage elements of the proposal.
The site is particularly sensitive in terms of its historic
significance being located within a Conservation Area and
near a Listed Building. However, the impact of the
development on the historic environment is considered to
be acceptable, providing an enhancement to the setting.
During the course of the application Beacon Planning
have worked closely with the project architects, Cottrell &
Vermeulen Architecture Ltd, and Cambridge City Council
to provide the successful outcome.
