Beacon Planning obtains planning permission for a new academic centre at Milton Keynes University Hospital.

Beacon Planning were appointed to provide planning services to Medical Property Management Ltd and Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The University of Buckingham opened the UK's first private medical school in January 2015. For the first two years students are based at the campus in Buckingham, but in their following two and a half years they are on clinical placements.

The development is for a new academic centre at the Milton Keynes University Hospital. It will provide a purpose built facility for up to 180 students of the University of Buckingham while they undertake their clinical placements at the hospital. The centre includes a lecture theatre, simulated operating theatre, simulated ward, teaching rooms, study space and staff offices. The academic centre will also be used by Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for clinical training of staff. We managed the pre-application discussion with the Council and worked with the project team to shape the proposals. We prepared the Planning Statement and liaised closely with the Council to ensure any queries were satisfied.

We are now appointed to by the contactor to discharge the planning conditions. It is anticipated that the build will be completed in 2017.
