Beacon's 7th birthday celebrations in Cologne
17 July 2015 | Posted by Ella Murfet

Beacon enjoyed another successful year celebrating in Cologne, Germany's fourth largest city.

Beacon enjoyed its 7th birthday this year and in celebration the team headed to Cologne for a weekend away at the beginning of May. Cologne is Germany's fourth largest city, founded by the Romans in 38 BC it has grown as a major trading centre along The Rhine. Though the bombings of World War 2 destroyed much of Cologne, there are still a number of historic and architecturally significant sites to be seen within the city. Whilst on the trip the team enjoyed an architectural tour of the Rheinauharbour, visited the iconic Cologne Cathedral, enjoyed some free samples at the Chocolate Museum and took a scenic ride on the city's cable car. Regular breaks from sightseeing were also enjoyed in many of the city's Brauhauses!

The birthday celebrations came as Beacon enjoys another successful year demonstrated by its growing team, with both the planning team and office support expanding in recent months. Beacon now boasts a team of 12, with 4 members in the planning team, 5 members in the heritage team and 3 office support. We also welcomed an additional member of the heritage team for a 6 month placement last week.
