Beacon Planning Ltd have successfully helped North Norfolk District Council defend their heritage reason for refusal of planning permission for a housing development of up to 129 units.

Charmain Hawkins, an Associate with Beacon Planning Ltd acted as heritage witness at a six day Public Inquiry earlier this year to assist North Norfolk District Council defend their refusal of planning permission for a major housing development within the village of Sculthorpe. In the decision letter the Inspector found that the Local Authority could demonstrate a five-year housing land supply and upheld all the heritage arguments presented by Mrs Hawkins. In dismissing the appeal he accepted that the harm to the heritage assets , which was to the setting of three listed buildings and the rural character and appearance of the conservation area, would be so extensive that it outweighed any benefits the scheme proposed.
